God has blessed me in so many ways that it’s hard to make this into a short about me section. I was raised in a good church and was saved at the age of 6. My cousin had recently trusted Christ and she was constantly telling me that I needed to get saved. I did not really understand why but one day in children’s church it just clicked that I knew I had sinned and I was going to be punished. That day I trusted Christ as my Savior.
At the age of 12 I believed I was to be a preacher and go into full time ministry. The fact was though, that I did not understand much of what that meant. One thing I do know now though is that all this while God was moving me where He wanted me to be. In about a years time, God moved my family from the church I was at to Lighthouse Baptist Church in Dawsonville, Ga. God greatly used Pastor Charles Blackstock and others in my life to train me and prepare. It was through this church that God allowed me to go on my first mission trip to Peru, South America.
I was 15 years old and still remember vividly looking across a city of 1 million people who needed to hear the Gospel. God broke my heart for the world and I surrendered to be a missionary. I was not sure exactly where God would send me but I knew that my life was to be used for His glory on the mission field.
After my first year of college, God once again allowed me to go on a mission trip but this time it was to China. I can recall sitting in a darkened hotel room and viewing apartment building after apartment building that went on and on as far as I could see. Millions in a city with little to no gospel witness. I knew then that I would go to China for God’s glory.
Up until the age of 9, I had a pretty unstable life. My single mother struggled to raise my older brother and I, while we were tossed in and out of foster care. Unfortunately, my mother was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder and worse than that, was and still is an alcoholic. She has allowed alcohol to take over her life, thus indefinitely losing custody of both my brother and I in 1994.
The last year or so I lived with my mother, due mostly to the influence of my grandmother, my mother would send my brother and I to Trinity Baptist Church on the bus. It was there that I heard a clear presentation of the gospel and realized my need of a Savior. After being dropped off at our apartment by the church bus, I told God that I knew I was a sinner and that because of my sin, I was on my way to hell. I asked him to forgive my sins and save me. That was July 1994.Shortly after that day, I went to live with my grandmother after being taken from my mother for the last time. God knew exactly what He was doing when he allowed this to happen. Looking back, I see the unbelievably huge blessing it was to have been raised by my grandmother. God used her to teach me about the things of God. She instilled in me a love for God’s Word and his church.
I definitely wasn’t a perfect child or teenager, but whenever I wandered away from God to do what I wanted, He always had a way of bringing me back to Him. I surrendered to full time Christian service at Trinity Youth Camp in 2002. I had no idea what I was going to do, but one thing I did know was that whatever I did, I wanted to glorify God with my life. I enrolled in Trinity Baptist College when I graduated from public high school in 2003. In 2006, the Lord allowed me to go on a missions trip to the Dominican Republic, and it was there that I resolved in my heart that I would be a missionary. In 2007, I moved to Georgia to attend Our Generation Training Center. The Lord has taught me so much since I’ve been here.
In 2008, the Lord brought the most wonderful man in my life. The Lord was so faithful to give me a husband who loves Him and wants to glorify Him with his life! Ben and I were married November of the same year. It has been an amazing journey so far and I’m excited to see what the future holds! I know that whatever happens, we want to bring glory to our wonderful Savior!
God has blessed us with wonderful a wonderful daughter named Evie and also we are expecting a boy in January of 2015! We pray that God will use them in great ways as they get older.
